The photo was selected from thousands of submissions to be exhibited at an international FIAP-patronised salon. Acceptances place the image in roughly the top 30% — and the work is shown in a public exhibition in the host country.
A runner-up distinction awarded by the salon's international jury to images of exceptional quality that fall just short of a medal — typically the next 5–10 photos after the medal winners in each section.
The top award given by the salon's jury — gold, silver, or bronze depending on the salon — recognising the most outstanding image in a section out of all international entries.
